Frequently Asked Questions

What is Padel, and how is it different from tennis or pickleball?

Padel is the world’s fastest-growing racket sport that blends elements of tennis and squash. It is typically played in doubles on an enclosed court smaller than a tennis court. The court includes walls, which players can use to rebound the ball, adding a unique strategic element to the game.

Here’s how it differs from lawn tennis and pickleball:

Key Differences from Tennis

  • Court Size: Padel courts are smaller (20m x 10m) than tennis courts and are enclosed with glass and wire mesh walls.
  • Scoring and Rules: The scoring system is the same as tennis, but serves are underhanded, and walls can be used during play.
  • Rackets: Padel rackets are solid and perforated without strings, unlike the strung rackets used in tennis.
  • Ball: The ball is like a tennis ball but slightly less pressurised.
  • Game Style: Padel emphasises strategy and precision over power, making it accessible for all skill levels.

Key Differences from Pickleball

  • Court Setup: Pickleball is played on a flat, open court with no walls, whereas Padel courts incorporate walls as part of the gameplay.
  • Rackets: Pickleball paddles are flat and lightweight, while Padel rackets are thicker, with a foam core, carbon fibre and perforated surface.
  • Ball: Pickleball uses a plastic ball with holes, whereas Padel uses a depressurised tennis-like ball.
  • Gameplay: Pickleball is typically more focused on quick reflexes and volleying, whilst Padel includes tactical use of walls and longer rallies.

Padel’s unique blend of strategy, ease of learning, and dynamic play has made it a favourite among players of all ages and skill levels. It offers the excitement of tennis with a social, approachable twist, making it ideal for casual and competitive players alike.

What types of Padel courts do you offer?

  • Standard
  • Panoramic
  • Full Panoramic
  • World Competition Court

Mobile court options include:

  • Portable
  • Flat Floor
  • MobilFold

How durable are your Padel courts?

Our courts are constructed with high-quality materials designed to withstand intensive use and various weather conditions, ensuring longevity. Each of our courts, regardless of whether it is fixed or mobile comes with a 10-year steel structure guarantee and a 5-year turf guarantee. All our courts are manufactured to the highest standards using robotic automation to ensure the best construction design principles are applied.

What are the official dimensions of a Padel court?

A standard Padel court measures 10m wide by 20m long (200 Sqm), with walls around the perimeter for rebound play. The court is designed to allow you to hit the ball off the back and side of the court using a strengthened glass area that covers all of the back and 2 metres either side. You can fit two standard size Padel Courts into a single lawn tennis court footprint up to the fenced area.

Do your courts meet international standards?

Yes, all our courts comply with official Padel regulations, making them suitable for casual play and professional tournaments. We have a number of ISO (International Standards Organisation) certifications, including 9001, 14001, 45000. We are certified as an International Padel Federation court supplier, International Padbol Federation supplier and accredited by the ITF (international Tennis Federation) IAAF (International Amateur Athletics Association).

What are mobile Padel courts?

Mobile Padel courts are portable courts that can be installed temporarily or permanently on various surfaces without extensive groundworks. Our Portable Court is ideal for pop-up events as they are quick to install and designed for short-term use. Our Flat Floor and MobilFold court options are designed to be as durable as a fixed court and can be used for many years but have the flexibility to be moved either on the current site or to a brand-new site. The build and manufacturing process for our mobile courts are the same as fixed courts but don’t have the associated costly groundworks as they sit on existing surfaces.

How are mobile Padel courts installed?

Mobile courts use a modular design that allows for quick assembly and disassembly. Our Portable Court utilises triangular support struts to keep the walls and court in place. Our Flat Floor involves building a base steel grid which then has a solid permeable sandwich panel placed on top with the court of choice being placed on top of this. The Flat Floor has extendable leg supports making it ideal for uneven ground as it has a self-levelling system. The MobilFold has an innovative and patented design which allows it to be deployed as two fully folded sections connected by a guide rail system and can be deployed in less than a day.

How long does it take to set up a Padel court?

This can vary depending on the court type and design. A fixed court can take up to six weeks including groundworks to be installed. Our Portable Court can be installed in less than a day, our MobilFold Court, in some instances can be ready in less than 5 hours and our Flat Floor court can be built up in just a couple of days, depending on the surface etc.

Can mobile Padel courts be used on any surface?

Yes, our mobile courts can be installed on most flat and stable surfaces, including concrete, grass, and artificial turf. The Flat Floor Padel Court is specifically designed to be installed on a more uneven surface (within certain tolerance levels). Our Floating Padel Court can be placed on any water location such as a Marina, lake or seashore.

Are Padel courts weather-resistant?

Absolutely. They are designed to withstand various weather conditions, including rain, wind and sun, without compromising performance. Our Padel Courts also have the added option to provide a galvanised coating, which is highly recommended at coastal locations to protect against sea salt erosion damage. Our turf designs are suitable for all weathers, and we also have a range of higher spec turf surfaces for indoors and competition courts. A site survey is carried out to determine the tolerances for options such as full panoramic glass surround which is suitable in some cases such as indoor courts but maybe less suitable for exposed outdoor locations where storm force winds could compromise the glass integrity. Our priority is player safety so we will advise on the best options.

Can mobile courts handle professional-level play?

Yes, our mobile courts meet the same standards as fixed courts and are suitable for tournaments and high-level play. We do get questions from customers who assume that mobility is compromised by design longevity, but this is not the case. The same manufacturing standards are applied to ALL our courts regardless of design type.

Do Padel courts require regular maintenance?

Maintenance is minimal, however some components such as the Padel tennis net can become damaged through player interaction, and we can source spares for when these need replacing due to player damage. As part of our leasing or rental packages we offer ongoing maintenance and support to check the courts regularly and deal with any maintenance issues that may arise.

The most common maintenance for a Padel court is cleaning the glass if it is an outdoor court, which is as simple as cleaning a standard household window.

Can fixed Padel courts be installed indoors and outdoors?

Yes, we offer fixed courts for both indoor and outdoor settings, customised to suit your space and environment. The difference with placing fixed courts indoors is that it removes the requirement for groundworks to manage water drainage from the surface as an indoor location has a roof. In that case, just a level surface is enough for a fixed court installation.

Can fixed courts be installed in residential homes?

Absolutely. We can design and install fixed courts for private homes. The difference between submitting planning for a private household development and a commercial development need to be considered. If an existing private home has a lawn tennis court already installed this drastically shortens the approval process, however, if the court installation is brand new other considerations may need to be factored into the planning and installation process to ensure a customer meets with all the required regulations and licences.

What are the benefits of adding a canopy to a Padel court?

In summary, canopies provide protection from the elements, such as rain and UV rays, ensuring year-round usability, more player booking revenue and a better playing experience. However, installing a canopy for outdoor courts goes even further than these initial benefits. Depending on the canopy type, and we have quite a few, you can reduce light and noise pollution significantly, a factor that has been raised as several objections to padel court installations, especially in more residential or built-up areas around private homes. A canopy, such as our Wheel Canopy System, provides the best of both worlds, it takes less than 5 minutes to open or close the canopy and this has huge advantages for players and club owners.

Are canopies weather-resistant?

Yes, our canopies are made from high-quality durable, PVC membrane materials designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow and sun. The level of protection depends on the canopy design. As a company we do have canopies that have a wind tolerance of less than 50 mph, but with the UK weather it is pointless installing a canopy that could be lost or seriously damaged in a storm, given the average UK storm wind speed in the UK is a sustained 60 mph with gusts up to 70 mph and damaging gusts up to 90 mph. We pride ourselves on providing the right court and canopy for our customers not just any court or canopy.

Can canopies be customised to match branding or aesthetics?

Absolutely. Our canopies can be tailored with custom colours, logos, and designs to reflect your brand or preferred aesthetic. This is limited to certain canopies, but it can be done and really does make a canopy stand out and great for promotional purposes.

Do you have finance options?

Yes, we do. We are one of the very few UK based Padel court suppliers that has a number of different finance routes to help our customers get their clubs off the ground quickly and with minimal cash outlay.

The finance options are limited to our Mobile court solutions, but you have the options to buy outright as a capex expenditure, you can also lease the court from us with the court becoming your asset at the end of the term. You can also rent our mobile courts which is a great option if you just want to use the courts for your club and maximise your cash flow options.
